Designed to prepare &
reinforce literacy concepts.
Our tutors prepare students from grades 1 to 5 with reading comprehension and grammar skills in accordance with the Common Core Standards in 60-minute sessions conducted over Zoom.
Learning Goals
Learning what different parts of speech are (nouns, adjectives, etc) and how to use them.
Understanding how to compare and contrast topics.
Determining the main idea of different types of literature.
Learning how to describe parts of a story, like the setting and the characters.

Meet Your Tutor: Jennifer Hernandez
Jennifer is a second year psychology student with a minor in education at University of California, Davis hoping to become a teacher in the future. She joined IELC because she was part of a similar program during elementary school, and she wants to provide the same help she was given.
