Designed to prepare &
reinforce literacy concepts.

Our tutors prepare students from grades 1 to 5 with reading comprehension and grammar skills in accordance with the Common Core Standards in 60-minute sessions conducted over Zoom.

Learning Goals

Learning what different parts of speech are (nouns, adjectives, etc) and how to use them.

 

Understanding how to compare and contrast topics.

Determining the main idea of different types of literature.

Learning how to describe parts of a story, like the setting and the characters.

Meet Your Tutor:  Sofia Padilla

Sofia is a third-year student at San Diego State University pursuing a major in biology. She is on the Pre-Dental track and plans to become a general dentist. In high school, she wanted to pursue a career in the health field but was unsure of what specifically until coming to SDSU and joining several clubs and organizations that have helped her find dentistry! Apart from school, Sofia enjoys spending time outdoors, such as going on hikes and discovering new acai bowl places. She also loves her family and cherishes her friendships greatly.

Meet Your Tutor: Aaryaa Chitale

Aaryaa is a second-year Psychology major at University of California, Davis with a special interest in the field of education. She is striving to learn as much as she can about this field in order to help develop the gaps we find in our education systems. She likes to dance, try out cooking new recipes, roaming around the green paths of Davis or eating nice food in her free time. She is enthusiastic in her role as a tutor and strives to make the learning experience a fulfilling and joyous one for all her students.
